Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar variáveis sociodemográficas, de saúde (fragilidade, função cognitiva, depressão e capacidade funcional), aptidão física e qualidade de vida de pacientes ativos e inativos fisicamente submetidos à hemodiálise. Tratou-se de um estudo transversal no qual foram incluídos 39 pacientes com insuficiência renal crônica. Para coleta de dados os instrumentos utilizados foram o pedômetro para avaliar o nível de atividade física pelo número de passos; o teste de caminhada de seis minutos; de sentar e levantar e a dinamometria para avaliar as variáveis da aptidão física; o Questionário Medical Outcomes Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) para qualidade de vida; o Mini Exame de Estado Mental para o déficit cognitivo; a Escala de Depressão de Beck para os sintomas depressivos; o Questionário Edmonton Frail Scale para fragilidade, além de questionários para as atividades de vida diária. Além disso, foram identificadas características sociodemográficas e de saúde por meio de um questionário. Os dados foram analisados por Teste t para amostras independentes com probabilidade de 5%. Os resultados desta pesquisa evidenciaram que pacientes ativos fisicamente eram mais novos, tinham menor circunferência dos membros superiores e da cintura, menores escores de fragilidade e depressão, melhor percepção de qualidade de vida, e, também menor dependência nas atividades básicas e instrumentais de vida diária. Com base nestes resultados conclui-se que é fundamental estimular pacientes em hemodiálise a realizarem atividades físicas regularmente, a fim de usufruirem dos beneficios relacionados a esta prática.
O objetivo do estudo foi analisar os efeitos de um programa de exercícios resistidos sobre a aptidão física de pacientes em hemodiálise (HD). Para isso, todos os usuários da clínica renal do Hospital São Vicente de Paulo foram convidados a participar da pesquisa, sendo divididos aleatoriamente em grupo controle (GC) e grupo experimental (GE). O GE realizou exercícios resistidos durante a HD, três vezes/semana, por três meses. A aptidão física foi avaliada por meio do teste de seis minutos de caminhada, do teste de sentar e levantar e do teste de resistência de membros superiores. Evidenciaram-se aumento significativo da força de membros superiores e manutenção da força de membros inferiores no grupo experimental, ao passo que o grupo controle teve uma perda de força em membros inferiores. No grupo experimental, ainda houve redução do tempo diário sentado, demonstrando uma diminuição do nível de sedentarismo. Intervenções com exercícios físicos parecem ser promissoras e devem ser incentivadas nessa população.
