The transported entropy of oxygen ion,
SO2−*
, in yttria‐stabilized zirconia (YSZ) has been determined from measurements of Seebeck coefficients of the cell
false(T1,pfalse)false(normalPtfalse)O2false(normalgfalse)|YSZ|O2false(normalgfalse)false(normalPtfalse)false(T2,pfalse)
. The value obtained, 51 J K−1 F−1, is substantially different from results for YSZ which can be calculated from other investigations. The value does not vary with oxygen pressure, in accordance with results obtained for calcia‐stabilized zirconia. The results indicate that the sintering temperature for YSZ is important for obtaining uniform temperature conditions in fuel cells.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
