Este artigo objetiva estabelecer parâmetros comparativos sobre a escrita e a oralidade, com base nos estudos sociolingüísticos. Ao mesmo tempo, apresenta novas perspectivas sobre a pedagogia da oralidade em educação de jovens e adultos, vinculada às necessidades comunicativas dos alunos na sociedade contemporânea. Enfoca o diálogo, a interação verbal e a competência comunicativa como componentes essenciais da educação lingüística. Compreendendo a fala como ferramenta primordial para a expressão de pensamentos, crenças e atitudes, assim como espaço de fortalecimento de identidade e direito social na formação de cidadania, as autoras posicionam-se criticamente sobre as práticas metodológicas do ensino da oralidade nas escolas.
Neste artigo, enfocamos a prática de leitura desenvolvida nos Círculos de Leitura, mediante a recepção do texto literário e as trocas de experiências que promovem a socialização e o fortalecimento da solidariedade entre as idosas participantes do grupo “Circuleiturando”. Nosso interesse de estudo se direciona para a temática Envelhecimento e Aprendizagens, na intenção de compreender as práticas sociais das pessoas idosas que buscam novas aprendizagens, (re)descobertas de ver o mundo, a si próprio(a) e formas de (re)inventar a velhice. Como aportes teóricos, utilizamos autores que estudam memória e envelhecimento e as práticas da leitura, assim como buscamos a inspiração na literatura para fundamentar nossas motivações. A partir da receptividade e participação das idosas, concluímos que o círculo de leitura se constitui em uma atividade valiosa para estimular os diversos tipos de memória e mecanismos cognitivos, assim como para desenvolver a competência comunicativa e ativar a imaginação.
Neste século XXI, com a evolução tecnológica, que permite o acesso aos processos cognitivos envolvidos na prendizagem, possibilitando analisar e compreender como o conhecimento se dá em termos neurocientíficos, fisiológicos, e que fatores influenciam no processamento da informação, na aprendizagem, os educadores têm a tarefa de estudar, pesquisar e se atualizar a partir desses novos parâmetros de estudo. Não há mais como o educador negar os estudos neurocientíficos, a relação entre o funcionamento do cérebro e a aprendizagem. A partir desse contexto, neste número 41 trazemos estudos que discutem questões voltadas para o debate em torno da cognição, da aprendizagem e da formação de professores. Tendo em vista a discussão proposta nesta edição – Cognição, Aprendizagem e Formação de Professores –, o primeiro artigo Leitura e escritura: processos cognitivos, aprendizagem e formação de professores, de Valquíria Claudete Machado Borba, Monalisa dos Reis Aguiar Pereira e Adelino Pereira dos Santos, traça um breve panorama das contribuições de pesquisas sobre os processos cognitivos envolvidos na aprendizagem da leitura e da escritura com base nos pressupostos científicos da neurociência, enfatizando a importância desses conhecimentos para uma prática pedagógica mais significativa no desenvolvimento da leitura e da escritura.
