Este texto argumenta em favor da perspectiva de educação proposta por Paulo Freire e sugere que suas obras sejam revisitadas pelo prisma da crítica pós-colonial e decolonial, tendo como horizonte a ideia de emancipação humana, alicerçada em projetos coletivos de transformação da realidade no âmbito da justiça social. Para tanto, busca realizar uma aproximação entre a perspectiva teórica freiriana e a crítica pós-colonial e decolonial a partir da ênfase da Educação Libertária e da proposta de uma Pedagogia [des]decolonial. A discussão que ora se apresenta pretende analisar à escrita da História da África por meio de uma perspectiva marcada pelos pressupostos da longa duração. Com esse objetivo, recorremos inicialmente aos apontamentos de Anderson Oliva e Carlos Lopes. Em seguida, no desenvolvimento de nossa argumentação, recuperamos sucintamente algumas falas do teórico dos estudos pós-coloniais Achile Mbembe, que em seu texto, “As formas Africanas de Auto-Inscrição”, propõe matrizes epistemológicas diferentes da epistemologia ocidental. Para se pensar a dinâmica histórica, ofereceu diferentes aportes teóricos e uma compreensão mais complexa sobre a produção da história africana, colocando o foco para além de simples dicotomias, como sociedades africanas vitimizadas versus sociedades superiores, bem como para além do aspecto da raça e da diferença.
