Student veterans experience barriers when seeking and receiving mental health care. This qualitative study aimed to better understand how those barriers affect access to mental health care from the perspective of student veterans. Semi-structured interviews were conducted regarding the lived experience of student veterans and their perceptions of selfstigma and barriers to care. A deductive thematic analysis guided by phenomenological theory was applied. Analysis clarified several distinctive themes that provide implications for future psychosocial support and treatment interventions.
