Hoy en día la enfermedad periodontal afecta un gran porcentaje de la población a nivel mundial, esta enfermedad no es otra cosa que la interacción entre las bacterias y el huésped originando la destrucción de sus tejidos de soporte dando así inicio de la formación de bolsas periodontales, pérdida de inserción, pérdida ósea, movilidad dentaria que incluso puede llegar a la pérdida de sus piezas dentarias, afectando por lo general los adultos a partir de la tercera década de vida y en menor porcentaje a los jóvenes. El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar la incidencia de periodontitis en sus estados crónicos y severos en los pacientes atendidos en la Clínica Integral del Adulto y Adulto Mayor en la Facultad Piloto de Odontología período Junio - Julio 2019 – 2020 a través de una metodología observacional, descriptiva, no experimental analizando 68 pacientes atendidos en la Clínica Integral del Adulto y Adulto Mayor de la Facultad Piloto de Odontología utilizando una ficha de observación clínica en la cual se permitió establecer la frecuencia del tipo deenfermedad periodontal, género, grupo etario, índice de higiene oral, lesiones de furca, movilidad dentaria teniendo como primer resultado que la enfermedad periodontal con que más prevaleció fue la periodontitis crónica y que afecta más al género masculino con un rango de edad entre los 30-60 años de edad con un índice de higiene oral deficiente concluyendo así que la periodontitis crónica fue la de mayor prevalencia.
