The article continues the discussion of pilot study results concerning the specifics of university teachers' support for the idea of Open Science and is devoted to the main types of their engagement in data exchange. For this purpose, we described characteristics, subcharacteristics of engagement, and their indicators; classified the findings, conducted the step-by-step selection of engagement profiles with their further ranking according to the level of engagement, and grouped the types of engagement into common and distinctive ones. The determined types (intense, moderate, selective, and quasi) embrace all the identified relationships between various levels of engagement in empirical data exchange, namely: the shaped intention to share empirical data, the consistent application of its methods, and conscious assistance to it. The main types of engagement characterize teachers' intentions to disseminate empirical data and the possibility of such data reuse by other researchers. The findings can be valuable for the management of higher educational establishments, as it allows to evaluate teachers' readiness to disseminate the collected ED and to give permission for their reuse by other researchers. In general, the conducted research adds an important nuance to the implementation of institutional policies of research management with the purpose of promoting Open Science.
The article offers the description of the pilot study results on university teachers’ engagement in exchange of empirical data on distance learning. It was suggested that they have a shaped intention to exchange; however, the specifics of their efforts make it difficult to integrate the collected data into the body of open empiricism. The study identifies the meaningful constructs of teachers’ engagement in data exchange. The research findings can be used in the practice of knowledge management in the system of higher education in order to optimize the engagement of teachers in the exchange of empirical data.
This paper studies linguistic devices used by the authors of English and Ukrainian economic media texts to reveal their opinion and give attitudinal assessment to the state of affairs in the sphere of economy. It is well-known that the main function of mass media is to communicate different viewpoints, but the ways and linguistic devices used to this purpose can significantly differ depending on the target audience. Business and economic journalism is quite young in Ukraine, and the recipients are not as demanding as the readers in English-speaking countries. Thus, there exist certain differences in presenting economic data and news in the compared languages. The research is based on the corpus of 50 articles from The Economist, Business Week and The Guardian in English and Interfax-Ukraine, NV (Novoe vremya), Obozrevatel and Unian in Ukrainian, where economic implications of the coronavirus pandemic are described. It is proved that expressing attitude is inevitably connected with the pragmatic aim to influence the reader's perception of economic news and coax them to the author's point of view.
Purpose. Use of an improved numerical method of calculating transient processes in electrical circuits for modeling electromagnetic processes in nonlinear magneto-electric circuits, and also development of a circuit model based on this method, which leads to the convenience of calculation. Methodology. Approximation of functions by Chebyshevs polynomials, numerical methods of differential equations integrating, matrix methods, spline interpolation, programming, theory of electric and magnetic circuits. Findings. On the base of the well-known method of transient process analysis in linear electric circuits, the method of numerical calculation of transient processes in nonlinear magneto-electric equivalent circuits of transformer has been developed. By the help of the proposed method it is possible to reduce processing time for modeling electromagnetic processes in transformers. The example of using the developed method is shown. The computer program for modeling of electromagnetic transient in a single-phase transformer based on the described method has been developed. This example shows reduction of processor time by more than four times compared to examples of calculations based on other known methods. Originality. The method in which the solution of state differential equations is presented in the form of decomposition into a series along orthogonal Chebyshevs polynomials is used in this work. The polynomial approximation applied in this work is not corresponding to the solution function itself, but its derivative, which significantly reduces the error of integration of differential equations. Differential equations of state are transformed into linear algebraic equations for special images of solution functions. A principle is developed of constructing magneto-electric substitution circuits in which images of solution functions appear. Images of true dynamic currents and magnetic fluxes in the proposed equivalent scheme are interpreted as direct currents and direct magnetic fluxes. The used method has shown advantages in accuracy and time of simulation of electromagnetic transient over other known methods based on application of magneto-electric substitution circuits. Practical value. The developed method opens up the possibility of using the apparatus of the theory of electric and magnetic circuits to work with images of currents and magnetic fluxes. Based on this, a universal software complex is being developed to calculate transients in transformers of various constructions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
