Creasing is one of the most important properties of textiles for apparel application. Most fabrics are regularly evaluated by means of etalons, that is, visual standards. Nevertheless, due to the disadvantages of visual evaluation, which is unreliable and time consuming, several objective methods were developed. In this article, a new objective method of multidirectional evaluation of creasing is described. We have proposed the test method of angle recovery using image processing. The specimen of the fabric was of a circular shape and it was measured by the method of angle recovery in various directions. We compared the results obtained from our method with the method described by Sommer and by the hollow cylinder method also. We found good conformity between the results obtained from our method and the method described by Sommer.
This study objectively evaluates the uneven appearance of the two-needle decorative seams of leather seat covers. The investigation is based on both measurement of the stitch slant angle by image analysis and measurement of the penetration force influenced by different cutting points of the needles. To record the unevenness the new parameter, the difference of the stitch slant between the right- and left-hand sides of the seam was evaluated. Further, the interrelation ship among penetration force differences of the stitch slant and type of needle point was searched for to meet the requirements of car producers for a perfect appearance of decorative seams. The degree of uneven seam was measured within subjective visual evaluation, too. Four natural and two artificial leathers were tested. A combination of two threads and four needle points was applied to the tested leathers. It was confirmed that the uneven appearance was influenced by the type of leather, the point of the sewing needle and by the sewing thread. The selection of the needle point influenced the size of the force required for penetrating the leather. It was determined only in half of the cases that the smaller the force of penetration, the more even the appearance of the decorative seam. In most cases, using the cutting point LR, the left seam looked less slanted than the right one. Conversely, when using the cutting point for straight stitch appearance, that is, DH, the left stitch looked straighter than the right one. The causal link between the new parameter Δβ and the suitability of the applied needles and threads for leather materials was found.
Social, psychological and health effects of wearing face masks in childrenFacial drapes can cause a wide range of problems in children with skin difficulties, not only health, but also social and psychological. Based on a questionnaire survey of 50 children with skin problems (and 76 pupils without dermatological treatment), the adverse effects of wearing veils, which related to limitations in everyday life, communication disorders with others and unpleasant feelings on the facial skin, were evaluated. All respondents agreed that the veils bothered in all activities, however, more schoolchildren without skin problems. The summer hot weather was the worst for all of them, and the fastening of the veils behind the ears was also uncomfortable. The overview then lists the possible side effects of wearing veils on the skin and also presents the functional pattern of the veil of our own design.
The authors of the article are presenting an innovated method of measuring the angle of recovery. The method of measuring was designed to grasp more realistically creasing of textiles when they are worn. The next part of the article is dealing with the evaluation of the influence of material of the textile on its creasing. First the initial speed of the angle of recovery was analysed (at the first five seconds) and, further, the role of elastic, viscoelastic and plastic deformations formed in the textiles during creasing, was evaluated. The highest speed of recovery of the textile in the first five seconds had the woollen textile, followed by the cotton fabric of plain weave with symmetrically arranged sett.
