The labor market situation in the postal and logistics sector has led to sustainable human resource management becoming increasingly important at the strategic level of each postal operator. This study proposes a new perspective of employee satisfaction assessment that not only quantifies total satisfaction but identifies job attributes and socio-demographic characteristics affecting employee satisfaction and loyalty as a key concern for sustainable human resource management. Findings of 1775 survey questionnaires of employees in Slovak Postal enterprise revealed that employee satisfaction is on average. The greatest dissatisfaction was related to the financial reward of employees and the employer’s lack of interest in the views and attitudes of employees. The use of regression and correlation analysis pointed to the fact that not only their satisfaction, but also the situation on the labor market in the region, the age of the employee, the job position and the length of employment have a strong influence on employee loyalty.
This paper displays the design and application of a model that simulates the queuing system of a fictional post office. Starting point for solving more complicated optimization tasks is to create a system model that consists of elements of reality and the relationships between these elements. The key part of the paper includes the model of a queuing system of a post office created in Anylogic simulation software. The model of the post office displays post office with 5 postal counters, a certain input flow and a certain service time with an exponential probability distribution. The model also includes statistics and cost calculation.
Automatic identification and its elements are still evolving. One of its areas are 2-dimensional barcodes. They have several advantages over 1-dimensional ones, especially in terms of the amount of information to the code area. We decided to analyse the barcode on the Slovak Post label and replace its 1-dimensional barcode with 2-dimensional barcode to increase the amount of encoded data.
In our research we examined the possibility of using Monte Carlo simulation to support decision making through simulation models. For this purpose, we chose a basic economy task assignment. Subsequently, we created a simulation algorithm in Matlab, where we searched for the optimal amount of offered products based on the task inputs. The output of the research is a simulation algorithm using the Monte Carlo method to solve a given economic problem.
In our research we dealt with the creation of an algorithm designed to simulate M / M / n queuing systems with endless queues. The algorithm was created in Matlab. When creating the algorithm, we proceeded according to scientific literature, according to which we transformed the formulas into the Matlab algorithm. This process also included the optimization and creation of new outputs based on the analysis of the generated data. The research output is a Matlab algorithm suitable for creating simulations of M / M / n / ∞ systems.
