We have found that N-sulfonyl isothiocyanates (2) [2-41 are obtained in good yields when potassium salts of N-(dithio-methy1ene)sulfonamides [potassium sulfonylimidocarbonates ( I ) [5], are treated with equimolar amounts of phosgene at room temperature.Sulfonyl isocyanide dichlorides (2) are obtained in good yields on chlorination of salts of N-(dithiomethy1ene)sulfonamides [sulfonylimides of dithiocarbonates] ( I ) , M = K. 104/18 7210.2 92/0.2 120/0.5 (38) 100/0.3 114/0.15 10910.4 127/0.4

Conversions from the Benzoxarole into the Benzoxazine Series and vice versa, I1 1). Benzoxazole-2-carboxylic Acid Derivatives from 2,3-Dioxo-I ,I-benzoxazines2,3-Dioxo-1,4-benzoxazines 1 react with thionyl chloride to form the imide chlorides 2. With nucleophilic reactants one obtains either 3-substituted benzoxazinones such as the thioxo derivatives 16 as well as the quarternary salts 14 and 15; or, with ring contraction, esters 3 and amides 9 of the benzoxazole-2-carboxylic acid. In the case of reaction of 2 with amines, the isomer pair 9 and aminobenzoxazinone 10 are frequently obtained together. Conversely, if the esters 3 are reacted with amines, ring enlargement to 10 is also sometimes observed. A new synthesis is given for benzoxazole-2-aldoxime 13.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
