Studies concerning the effect of stirring and post‐stirring on the oxygen distribution at the end of the LD process show that a post‐stirring phase following the end of the blow establishes an oxygen distribution close to equilibrium. The sub‐lance tests performed at 90% of the oxygen throughput show in comparison with the post‐stirring phase a distinct oxygen deficiency, while the blow end‐point measurements show an excess of oxygen.
The effect of chemical analysis, grain composition, and reactivity of lime on slag formation and metallurgy of steelmaking is discussed. Test showed that reburning of soft burn lime may occur in the BOF. By using special lime, which is manufactured from lime and fluxes, it is possible to work against reburning and C2S-formation. The acceleration of lime dissolution and the resulting improvement of the metallurgical reactions lead to a reduction of the blowing time.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
