S ensitivity to rubber products has become an increasingly serious problem, especially among children with spina bifida, children with congenital urological anomalies, health care workers (Slater, 1992; Swartz & Leger, 1992), and factory workers who have repeated and prolonged exposure to latex (Weido & Sim, 1995). The purpose of this article is to alert occuparional therapy practitioners to the problem of latex sensitivity in children with spina bifida and to recommend strategies for those who work with this at-risk population.
