The replacement of missing teeth with implant-borne restorations has become a treatment modality accepted by the scientific community for fully and partially edentulous patients. Recent reports have demonstrated the successful placement of dental implants into the fresh extraction socket in the anterior as well as in molar regions, which is made possible due to modification in implant surface. The present case report highlights the placement of three bicortical screw (BCS) implants into the fresh extraction sockets and one KOS implant in edentulous area with flapless technique. All the implants were immediately loaded and followed up for a period of 6 months.
BackgroundEarly childhood caries discloses a distinct clinical pattern, and the teeth most often involved are the maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors, and the maxillary and man-dibular first molars. The maxillary incisors are most severely affected, with deep carious lesions usually involving the pulp. Teeth that have been endodontically treated often have little coronal tooth tissue remaining and as such require a post to retain the core and restoration .This study evaluated and compared the efficacy of EverStick glass fiber-reinforced composite post with ParaPost Taper Lux in primary maxillary anterior teeth.AimAn in vivo study was conducted to evaluate and compare the longevity and failures of two fiber post systems in primary maxillary anterior teeth.Materials and methodsA total of 60 severely mutilated primary maxillary anterior teeth from children aged 3 to 5 years were selected according to the inclusion criteria. These teeth were treated endodontically and were randomly assigned into two groups with 30 samples in each group, group I: EverStick glass fiber-reinforced composite post, group II: ParaPost Taper Lux post. The evaluation of dislodgment of posts, secondary caries, root fracture, and post fracture was carried out clinically and radiographically during every follow-up at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months interval.ResultsStatistical tests (Chi-square test, Fisher’s exact probability test) suggested that dislodgment of the posts was significant between the two groups at 6, 9, and 12 months follow-ups. But within the group during subsequent follow-up intervals, dislodgment of posts as a mode of failure was not statistically significant. However, clinically failures were seen in both the study groups.ConclusionFiber post system has proved to be successful clinically in both primary and permanent teeth due to the mono-block effect with luting agent, post system, core material, and bonding to dentin. Background: Implant therapy in partially edentulous patients has become a wellestablished treatment modality, in general, and anterior single-tooth replacement has become a highly predictable solution. However, the current literature is scarce when it comes to objective outcome evaluation from an esthetic point of view. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between non-dental personnel's perception of single-tooth implant restoration (STIR) with pink esthetic score (PES)/ white esthetic score (WES) grading given by different dental specialists. Materials and Methods: A total of 20 photographs with one implant restoration in the esthetic zone (maxillary canine to canine) surrounded by virgin teeth were included in the study. A total of 20 specialists (4 periodontists; 4 prosthodontists; 4 oral surgeons; 4 endodontists; and 4 senior general dental practitioners) evaluated the photographs for PES and WES scores. Same photographs were presented to 25 laypeople. They were instructed to identify which tooth was STIR and also record what factor influenced their decision for selecting STIR (surrounding peri-implant soft tissue or implant restoration). Results: Among the dental specialists, oral surgeons were very generous in PES/WES scores followed by endodontists, periodontists, general practitioners, and least scores were assigned by prosthodontists. The difference between all five groups was statistically significant. Furthermore, a negative correlation was observed between mean PES/WES scores assigned by specialists with positive identification of STIR by laypeople. Conclusion: Achieving good consistent anterior esthetics is a challenge. The hard and soft tissues, as well as the crown portion, have to be in harmony for acceptable results. In this study, highest score was given by oral surgeons and prosthodontists were very critical. Furthermore, it was observed that laypeople identified white esthetic deficiencies more frequently than pink esthetic deficiencies. Clinical Significance: Anterior maxillary single-tooth implant replacement is a successful and predictable treatment modality. PES/WES index are valuable objective assessment tools for evaluating anterior esthetics. However, the dentist's assessment may be different from that of the patient, because the latter is more subjective. Thus, a combination of subjective and objective assessment tools is essential while evaluating anterior esthetics.

Introduction Dermatoglyphics is the scientific and analytical study of fingerprints. Every individual's fingerprints are distinctive; one can determine one's ingrained potential, individuality, and choices by interpreting dermatoglyphics. This twin-city survey was undertaken to evaluate the fingerprint patterns of children with dental caries [study groups – rampant caries vs early childhood caries (ECC)] and caries-free individual (control group). Aim This study was carried out to determine the correlation between dermatoglyphic pattern and caries prevalence in young children in the twin cities of Pune and Mumbai. Materials and methods Two centers were selected in Pune and Mumbai. A total of 300 patients (150 patients in each center) were randomly selected from the age group ranging between 3 and 5 years. The samples were divided into two groups: Group I: Caries group, and group II: Caries-free group. Group I was further divided into children with ECC and children with rampant caries. Clinical examination of dental caries was done using mouth mirror and probe (only to remove debris and not probe into the fissures) in daylight or suitable light source. Fingerprints were obtained by the conventional ink method. Statistical results were obtained by one-way analysis of variance with post hoc Tukey's correction for multiple group comparisons using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20. Results The evaluation and comparison of patterns in children with caries and caries-free children in both right and left hands showed increase in the number of whorls in children with rampant caries as compared with children with ECC. However, this was not statistically significant. Conclusion The study showed a definite variation in dermatoglyphics between the ECC, rampant caries, and caries-free group. However, the rampant caries group showed more number of whorls as compared with the ECC group, but they were statistically insignificant. Dermatoglyphics has proven to be a useful, noninvasive, and cost-efficient tool for investigating diseases with a genetic background like dental caries and cleft lip and palate, etc. How to cite this article Chunawala Y, Morawala A, Ambiye A, Jain K.
