Drug utilization is very important for antibiotics as they are widely used in hospitals and their in appropriate use may lead to resistance. To check this irrational use of antibiotics and promote rational use the present retrospective study was conducted to access drug utilization evaluation of antibiotics in in patient department of District Hospital Rudraprayag for a period of three months. Overall 126 patients records were encountered in the study in which male female ratio .was 1 2. Prominent age range was 21-40. Overall 1064 drugs were prescribed average number of drug per prescription was 8.44. Percentage of drug by generic name was 33. Percentage of antibiotic prescribed was 82.74. Percentage of drugs with EDL was 66.16. Study results revealed poly-pharmacy, brand prescribing as common trends. Study showed need to promote prescribers to follow generic prescribing and use injectable and antibiotics rationally to prevent development of resistance in hospital and community. The word religion is derived from the Latin word religare, which means "to bind together." same is the concept of union therapy to bind or amalgamate different medical practices in constructive way for treating patient and providing accessible and affordable health care to the community because all medical therapies have same goal of treating disease possess religious background. This concept will help to revive and protect our rich medical heritage which is losing grounds at a rapid pace. It will provide a platform for union of past, present and novel medical knowledge so that best solution could be sought out by focusing on overall dimensions of health. It will help in dealing with presently untreatable diseases and palliative care. It will increase the access of medicine and cover health care gap by filling it with suitable synergistic and positive collaborations of past present and novel treatment modalities. In addition, gaps like economy and accessibility, equitably and quality in the remote areas will be tackled. Finally, it will give prospects for future research in areas of past medical systems which are unexplored and will aid to strengthen modern medicine.
Antibiotic resistance is a global phenomenon with ancient origins antibiotic resistance which is regarded as a priority threat by WHO. in fact antibiotic resistance is a an inevitable consequence of antibiotic use irrational use enhances the rate of antibiotic resistance the irrational use has made conventional methods for combating antibiotic resistance nonresponsive and had led to emergence of multiple drug resistant infections. This led to exploration of novel ways to fight antibiotic resistance. In spite of all these efforts antibiotic resistance is till a global threat and could be managed by rational use of drugs and methods weather conventional or novel methods. This review gives a glimpse of antibiotic resistance and the conventional and novel methods to fight it.
Human suffering through infections is inevitable. History has witnessed drastic negative impacts of infectious plagues which were primarily managed through prayers and latter through medicines. In spite of high technology at present COVID-19 and other resistant infections and diseases still pose a threat to global health and still is unchecked. Thus to combat it a modality Union therapy is conceptualized which synergistically uses the past and present medical techniques to cope up the COVID. It tries to merge the positive effects of supernatural medicine with modern medicine to make therapy comprehensive complete in all aspects. This effort would help to cope up new emerging diseases like COVID and in cases of palliative care where psychological aspects and the patient's religious and spiritual needs play a role. Overall it will help to frame a bridge between past and present treatment modalities by scientifically assessing and merging the objective similarities in them. It will help to foster new areas and make therapy acceptable and accessible to a wide range of global population.
