Resumo: Eugenia uniflora, conhecida popularmente como pitanga, é uma árvore da família Myrtaceae originária da Mata Atlântica brasileira e distribuída desde o Nordeste até o Rio Grande do Sul, com frequente cultivo em pomares domésticos em todo o país. Estudos com a espécie são importantes para contribuir com o aprimoramento do conhecimento científico sobre a planta e a composição dos seus frutos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as características físico-químicas e determinar compostos antioxidantes em frutos de pitanga nas cores laranja e vermelha. Foram avaliados em triplicata os teores de umidade, pH, sólidos solúveis, acidez total titulável, açúcares redutores, compostos fenólicos totais, flavonoides totais e vitamina C. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos ao teste t de Student, ao nível de 5% de significância. Os resultados mostraram que a pitanga vermelha apresenta maiores teores de umidade, pH, sólidos solúveis, compostos fenólicos totais e flavonoides totais. Acidez total titulável, açúcares redutores e vitamina C não foram diferentes entre as amostras avaliadas. Os frutos de pitanga coletados na região de Capão Bonito, SP, apresentam em sua composição compostos antioxidantes com potencial efeito benéfico à saúde, especialmente os frutos na cor vermelha, indicando seu alto valor como alimento funcional.
