Indian agriculture has witnessed a labour crisis and a dearth of farm mechanization resulting in inadequate production and productivity in various parts of the country. The study was undertaken in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh in 2020, to analyse farmers’ perception of Custom Hiring Services (CHS). Patan block was selected purposively by involving 80 respondents spread over ten villages using proportionate random sampling technique. Farmers actively engaged in agricultural operations and availing the services of the Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) were selected purposively. The majority (75%) of the farmers had moderate perception towards CHS. The independent variables such as age, annual income, cropping pattern, information processing behavior, information sharing behavior and extent of utilization of CHS were found to be significant and positively related with the perception of farmers regarding CHS. Proper measures must be taken for the provision of enhancing mainly small and marginal farmers’ understanding of mechanization as well as ensuring quality and timely services by the CHCs in order to realize its sustainable adoption.
Custom hiring services (CHS) has enabled the small and the marginal farmers to timely carry out the farm operations by providing access to the costly farm machines at subsidized rate on hiring basis. It has been advantageous in drudgery reduction, minimizing the cost of cultivation and also creating opportunities for skilled labour. Custom hiring has facilitated efficient use of resources and applied inputs. In spite of its importance and need, farm mechanization is still beyond the reach and acceptance of many farmers in India due to various constraints perceived by them. The present study was carried out in the Patan block of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh with a sample size of 80 respondents availing services from the custom hiring centres (CHC). Proportionate random sampling technique and Ex-post facto research design was used for the purpose of the study. Statements related to different constraints faced and suggestions to overcome them expressed by the respondents were recorded and ranked accordingly. ‘Lack of knowledge about custom hiring centres’ and ‘non-availability of machineries during peak season’ were the maximum constraints faced whereas ‘dissemination of technical know-how’ and ‘establishment of more number of CHC under one panchayat’ were the most important suggestions given to overcome the problems perceived regarding the CHS.

National Food Security Mission (NFSM) was launched in October 2007 with new targets of additional production of 25 million tons of food grains comprising of 10 million tons rice, 8 million tons of wheat, 4 million tons of pulses and 3 million tons of coarse cereals by the end of 12th Five Year Plan. Redgram is cultivated in 2.77 lakh hectares across Telangana state. It is the major crop for Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda, Warangal, and Khammam districts. The present study was carried out in the Adilabad district of Telangana with sample of 105 respondents in the year 2020-21 and data was collected with the help of well-structured interview schedule. Before and after change in the income and production of the red gram under NFSM was determined. To determine impact on income and production, paired t test was run with the help of SPSS software. The result with the help of paired t-test concluded that change was witnessed in the income and production of the red gram beneficiaries with the intervention of NFSM Scheme.
Agri-startups is the use of technology in agriculture, horticulture and aqua-culture with the aim of improving yield, efficiency and profitability. Agri-startup can be products, services or applications derived from agriculture that improve various input, output process. In adoption of technology through digital platforms is critical towards transforming India’s agriculture. For this goal ICTs based agristart-ups are established for proper utilization of resources and increase employment and farmers income. The investigation was conducted in four ICT based agristart-ups which established in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh based on their agricultural and allied activities, to identify the constraints faced by administrators for effective functioning of agristart-ups. For this purpose descriptive research design was used and data was collected through 80 administrator with structured questionnaire, which were selected by simple random sampling method with replacement. Major constraints reported by administrator was unsupportive bank officials and poor co-operation, which was analyzed through the garrett ranking method.
