The negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has given people the opportunity to move forward. The increasing number of app-based online ordering systems creates significant job opportunities for freelancers and the jobless impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The scenario has brought about a Gig-economy in the Malaysian context. This study aims to examine and explain consumers’ behavioural usage of e-hailing food delivery applications in Malaysia using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). One hundred respondents completed the structured survey questionnaires. The study found that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use positively affect the behavioural intention to use e-hailing food delivery applications. Besides, behavioural intention also positively affects actual usage. The study suggests that the government or policymakers could give more attention to this fast-growing industry.
This study illustrates that Gojek customer loyalty in Yogyakarta remains significant even though it is still in tight business competition. This means that Gojek management must maintain and increase customer loyalty under any circumstances. In addition, the results of this study provide insights for academics in studying and developing research in the field of marketing, especially on the topic of customer loyalty. Rice is a staple food for countries particularly in Asia, including Malaysia, hence arise concern on its supply. Thus, this study aims to investigate the causal relationship between the incentives (fertiliser subsidy and minimum price guarantee) given and paddy production in Kedah, the rice bowl of Malaysia. A time-series data ranging from the 1996 main season to the main season in 2018 (1996H1 to 2018H1) employed. Using ARDL and Granger approaches, the result shows that any disequilibrium in paddy production is regulated to accomplish the convergence faster. In the short-run, fertiliser subsidy and paddy prices are not significant in the MADA regions. The results of the analysis show that there are various causes of the long-run in the production of rice with subsidized steel and rice prices related to rice yield. The outcome of this study demonstrates the presence of long-run causality between paddy production with fertiliser subsidy and paddy price with respect to paddy yield. Therefore, to boost the paddy yield, the government should increase the number of subsidies, and control the paddy price to prevent it from falling below the market price. Therefore, future research should investigate the causal relationship between fertiliser and paddy price subsidy to the different types of paddy seeds planted. Contribution/ OriginalityThis study significantly contributes to the growing evidence of the relationship between government incentive schemes to paddy production in Malaysia. The research explored how fertiliser subsidy and minimum price guarantee contributed to paddy yield. The evidence provided in this study demonstrates that the presence of long-run causality between paddy production of fertiliser subsidy minimum price guarantee.
Purpose- This paper aims to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the student’s financial and emotional aspect at one of Malaysia's higher learning institutions (HLI). Design/Methodology- The data collected from the online questionnaires involved 397 students and were analyzed using SPSS. Findings- The findings showed a significant positive association between all variables where the strength range was from r=.556 to r=.565. The highest correlation is the financial aspect (r-value .565) and is followed by the emotional aspect (.556). Next, the results also revealed that both variables were significantly influenced where the R² value was 47.1% while other factors explained the additional 53% of the element. Practical Implications- There are some significant implications identified in this study. First, this study's findings directly impacted the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in terms of financial support and the emotional aspect. Second, the result indicated that the university should also consider other internal and external aspects rather than focus only on improving the learning process. Third, this study would enrich the current body of knowledge about the impact of COVID-19.
