DaB dies h6chst interessante und bedeutsame Werk auch nach dem Tode yon Bi~tschli erfreulich fortschreitet, wird yon allen Zoologen und Anatomen mit besonderer Befriedigung begrfii~t werden. In dem vorliegenden 4. Abschnitt fiber die vergleichende Anatomic der Mctazoen werden die Ern/thrungsorgane behandelt. Die Einteilung cntspricht der racist iiblichen; zuerst werden die Wirbellosen, Spongiae, Coelenteraten, Vermes, Arthropoda, Mollusca, Echinodermata, dann die Chordata, Tunicata und Vertebrata behandelt. Der ganzcn Anlage des Werkes entsprechend, ist ein ungeheures Material nfit vielen wertvollen Einzelheiten in gedr~tngter Kfirze sebr fibersichtlich und klar verarbeitet. Eine sehr grol~e Zahl sehr klarer und zweckentsprechender Abbildungen, die in der bekannten schenmtisierenden Art gehalten sind, erl~utert ausgezcichnet den Text. ])iese mit grol~er Sorgfalt zum Teil mehrfarbig wiedergegebenen Bilder erleichtern die Ubersicht und die schnelle Auffassung sehr. iDa Bi~tschli noch cine reiche Menge won Vorarbeiten hinterlassen hat, stammen ~,iele Figuren noch yon ibm. Den Bearbeitern ist sehr zu danken, dab sie gesonnen sind, dies wertvolle Werk so schnell zu Ende zu fiihren. Die Ausstattung ist sehr zu loben und durchaus den groBen Ansprfichen der Vorkriegszeit gemhfL Julius Tandler. Lehrbuch der systenmtischen Anatomie. 2. Band. Vogel, Leipzig 1923.Entsprechend der gl/tnzenden Ausstattung des ersten Bandes ist jetzt ebenso llacl). langer ]?ause der zweite Band gefolgt. Die Einteilung des Werkes entspricht der lang be-w~thrten Tradition. Die Darstellung auch des zweiten Bandes ist kurz und klar, bringt alles Wescntlicbe cntsprechend den reichen Erfabrungen eines in der Lehrtittigkeit lange bew~,thrten Forschers. Literaturnachweise sind fortgelassen, wodurch die Darstellung zweifellos an ~bersiehtlichkeit gewinnt. Den Hauptanteil an der Brauchbarkeit des Buches haben sicherlich die grol~en prachtvoll ausgeftihrten Abbildungen. Sehr anschaulich sind die plastischen l)arstellungen der Epithelien und Drfisen, wie man dies iibrigens sehon vielfaeh in Lehrbfichern findet. Oftmals sind die Abbildungen mehrfarbig; dadurch und durch die Gr613e der tadellos ausgeftihrten Bilder, die auch durch ausgezeichnete RSntgenaufnahmen ergitnzt werden, unterscheidet sich dies Werk vorteilhaft yon einer Anzahl anderer Anatomien, so dab es sicherlich x, iel Beifall linden wird. So ausgezeichnete Abbildungen, wie sie hier yon der Dammuskulatur gegeben werden, besitzen wir wohl fiberhaupt noch nicht. An dem Lungenschema ist wohl ein Versehen in der Bezeichnung passiert, weder der B. respiratorius, noch der D. alveolaris zeigt das charakteristische Ausseben. Die Ausstattung ist hervorragend, durch die Sorgfalt des Druckes und das Kunstdruckpapier ist alles getan, um die herrlichen Abbildung...
