This paper presents the application of the deterministic approach in the planning methodology for the enhancement of the operational security of the Kosovo Power System i.e. the Kosovo TSO by increasing the security of supply through the application of the N-1 criterion in critical sections of the system. This approach is applied in order to provide for continuous and quality supply of system consumers with electric energy whereby the security of supply is determined by the Network Code also for havaric conditions respectively in cases of outages or loss of any of the essential elements of the full configuration of the Tso, transmission lines or substations/transformers for whatever reasons. Irrespectively of whether occurring as conditioned by faults, overloads, operator interventions or imposed changes of operative configurations of the system. This method of analysis and planning methodology of enhancement of the operational security of the system by applying the deterministic approach respectively the N-1 respectively N-k approach is used in the Kosovo TSO as well as in the regional ones and depending on the level of accuracy and reliability demanded by the respective analysis, it can be augmented and complemented with state-of-the-art probabilisticstochastic approaches.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
