We propose two multichannel time slot sorters which sort time division multiplexed ( T D M ) optical inputs arranged as N frames with N time slots p e r frame using O ( N log' N ) optical switch elements [7] and optical delay lines connected in a feed forward fashion. Two space-time variants of the spatial oddeven merge algorithm [l] are used t o design the sorters. The proposed sorters use fewer switches than previously proposed sorters using switches with feedback line delays (the K-switch in [4]) and other sorters using switches with feedforward line delays [6]. One of the sorters uses O ( N log N ) fewer switches as compared to the ones in [4,6].
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
