The impact of multilevel converter STATCOM in transmission and distribution system is given high importance. Increment of number of switches in multi-level cascaded H-bridge converter, made it more vulnerable to open circuit and short circuit faults. To reduce the effect of faults on line voltage magnitude, in this paper an advanced improved predictive controller is used to generate PWM pulses for the power electronic devices. A Cascaded H-bridge STATCOM, interconnected to a distribution system with linear and non-linear loads. The feedback control structure of STATCOM has an advantage of reducing THD and controllable reactive power. A switch fault detection and elimination method is proposed with a bypass switch connected to each H-bridge to surpass the faulty H-bridge. The complete analysis with all control structures is designed in MATLAB/Simulink representing dynamic graphs and feasibility of proposed method is verified.

This paper presents dynamic analysis studies of planar parallel flexible 3-RRR manipulator with and without considering the flexibility of mobile platform. Initially, by treating all the members of the manipulator as flexible, the joint displacements, reaction forces and stresses are obtained during a specified trajectory tracking in Cartesian space. A comparative study is conducted with manipulator configuration having rigid mobile platform using coupled dynamics of limbs and kinematic constraints of mobile platform. Dynamic response of flexible manipulator is validated using ANSYS simulations for two different cases of trajectories. The results show a remarkable effect of flexibility of mobile platform on the overall dynamic response. After validation of the model, the inverse dynamic analysis data is used to create the system dynamics by employing generalized regression neural network (GRNN) model and the forward dynamic solutions of the flexible manipulator are predicted instantaneously. This study is useful for the real time implementation of motion control of flexible manipulators with complex dynamic model of manipulators.
This paper proposes a generalized method for the generation of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) signals for multilevel inverters. In the proposed method, the actual sector containing the tip of the reference space vector need not be identified. A method is presented to identify the center of a sub hexagon containing the reference space vector. Using the center of the sub hexagon, the reference space vector is mapped to the innermost sub hexagon, and the switching sequence corresponding to a two-level inverter is determined. A new technique is proposed in this paper, by which these two-level vectors are translated to the switching vectors of the multilevel inverter by adding the center of the sub hexagon to the two-level vectors. The proposed method can be extended to any n-level inverter, and a generalized algorithm is proposed. The scheme is explained for a five-level inverter, and experimental results are presented for a three-level inverter and seven level Inverter.
