Ultrasonic relaxation behaviour in methyl salicylate and salicylaldehyde has been studied using two independent ultrasonic methods, namely ultrasonic absorption and sound velocity dispersion. Ultrasonic absorption was determined in the frequency range 0.5-13.0 MHz employing the acoustic streaming and pulse techniques. The velocity dispersion was studied by using an ultrasonic interferometer in the frequency range 0.5-5 MHz. The activation energy of the backward reaction, AH,, has been found to be 23.0k4.0 and 23.0k4.0 kJ mol-l and the internal energy, AH,,, is 11.9 f 3.0 and 9.6k 3.0 kJ mol-' for methyl salicylate and salicylaldehyde, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
