Placement of gas stations (gas stations) in the city, as a rule, is not ordered. In connection with the current development of the city, the placement of the gas station is a point building on the free places, which leads to a violation of the norms and deterioration of the environmental condition in the territory of the nearest building. The authors systematize the factors affecting the environmental safety of gas stations in the urban area. This was done on the basis of previously obtained results of theoretical and experimental studies, as well as the results of numerical simulation. It became possible to characterize the degree of influence of existing or newly built gas stations on the environment. The algorithm of complex assessment of ecological safety of gas stations is offered on the basis of system of the revealed factors. Practical recommendations were developed to reduce the negative impact of existing and newly designed gas stations on the nearest development.
The aggravation of the environmental situation in major cities of the Russian Federation has been observed in recent years. A significant contribution to the deterioration of the quality of the urban environment has a large number of vehicles and consequently the number of gas stations. They are generally concentrated within the city limits. As a result of the high level of competition of oil companies in the gas station market and the large consumption of liquid fuel oil by the urban population there is a point building of gas stations on free sites of urban development. The question of the need to improve the ecological safety of urban gas filling stations is acute and remains extremely relevant in our time. On the basis of the results of theoretical, numerical and experimental studies obtained by the authors, factors influencing spread of harmful substances from emission sources at gas stations have been identified, and their significance was established. The identified factors formed the basis of a multi-criteria analysis of the environmental impact of emissions from sources at gas filling stations. The authors have developed a methodology for assessing environmental safety of urban gas filling stations, which allows to assess the degree of impact of gas filling stations on the urban environment and to reduce their negative effect.
The spread and influence of harmful substances from gas filling stations (gas stations) on nearby buildings, taking into account the aerodynamics of wind flows, is not well investigated. Studying process of the spread of harmful substances in natural conditions causes certain difficulties. Being based on the results of theoretical and experimental studies obtained earlier, the authors performed a numerical modeling of the spread of pollutants emitted from gas stations. As well the authors analyzed influence of these pollutants on nearby buildings taking into account the flowing air flows. The results obtained from numerical modeling make it possible to assess the state of the environment at any point and at any distance from the gas station and allows us to predict the degree of influence of atmospheric air pollution on the environmental safety of residential buildings during the construction of gas stations. Using numerical simulation, it also seems possible to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of planned measures to reduce the negative impact of harmful substances from gas stations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
