Chromium I 5500The Crystal Structure and Properties of Ga 2 Cr 1.33 Se 5 , a New Layered Semiconductor. -Single crystals of the new title compound are grown by chemical transport reaction starting with Ga2Se3 and CrCl3 which also acts as transport agent (1100→1067 K, 7 d). Ga2Cr1.33Se5 crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group R3 (hexagonal setting) with Z = 3. The structure can be describes as a close packed hexagonal arrangement of Se 2ions forming layers perpendicular to the c-axis. The cation occupy the tetrahedral and octahedral sites between the layers. Ga 2 Cr 1.33 Se 5 is a p-type semiconductor. The temperature-dependence of the magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie -Weiss law with positive θC-W = 137.7 K, pointing to ferromagnetic interactions. Nevertheless, no magnetic transition is found down to 4.2 K and also no thermomagnetic effect is observed. -(OKONSKA-KOZLOWSKA, I.; SZAMOCKA*, K.; MALICKA, E.; WASKOWSKA, A.; HEIMANN, J.; MYDLARZ, T.; GILEWSKI, A.; GRON, T.; J.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
