In arteriovenous mallormation, cerebral angiography is the last and conclusive method 01 diagnosis, although CT has been helplul lor determination 01 the location and extension 01 the lesion. We reviewed cerebral angiography combined with CT 01 30 cases 01 AVM who were suspected clinically during the period Irom Jan. 1979 to Dec. 1983 in SCH hospital. The res 비 ts were as lollows 1. The sex distributiün 01 cases were 17 males and 13 lemales (1 .3 :1) and 60% 01 cases were between lirst and second decade. Common symptoms were headache, vom iting and seizure 2. In CSF linding, subarachnoid hemorrhage were noted in 9 cases (6%)' 3. Only 1 case showed calcilication in simple skull ' se ries and the others were normal.4. The locations were parietal area (46%), Irontal area (21 %), temporal area (11 %) and lelt side was more common than the right side (62%) 5. The leeding arteries were MCA (32%), ACA (32%), PCA (7%) and the draining veins were superior cortical vein (32%), inlerior sagittal sinus (12%), vein 01 Galen (12%) and internal cerebral vein (12%). Multiple leeding arteries were noted in one case.6. The sizes were between 1-2cm were 12 cases (41%), beldw 1cm were 7 cases (20%), between 3-4cm were 5 cases (16%), and above 4cm were 3 cases (13%).7. CT was done in 26 cases. Among these, 4 cases (15%) showed serpentineous mixed density with marked enhancement and remainders showed intracerebral, intraventricular and subarachnoid hemorrhage, ischemic change, mass effect and hydrocephalus 8. Conservative therapy was done in 12 cases, total removal 01 anomalous vessels in 14 cases, clipping in 2 cases and radiation therapy in one case.
n intracranial tuberculosis, the Computed Tomograpy (CT) is a new radiological technique which ishelpful in diagnosis and determing the location , extents of the lesion. It can also make it possible to asscess the presence and degree of the complications and to evaluate the etfectiveness of treatmen t. The result were as follows;1. 4 cases were normal in CT finding , despite of the clinically proven tuberculous meningitis.2. Total or partial obliteration of cisterns were observed in 13 cases.3. Intense abnormal contrast enhancement of the cisterns were observed in 8 cases.4. 19 cases show moderate to marked ventricular dilatation.5. 2 cases of cerebral infarction were observed. 6. One case of tuberculoma was observed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
