We propose transmission-and reflection types, unidirectional and bidirectional optical cross-connect (OXC) devices based on fiber Bragg gratings. Power penalties induced from several possible impairments such as interaction length effect, intraband crosstalk and misalignment between laser source and grating filter are experimentally investigated. If 1.0 dB power penalty can be tolerated for the OXC device, the interaction length can be up to 20 meter, while the intraband crosstalk and wavelength misalignment should be less than -18 dB and ±0.2 nm, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
