Summary: The antimycotic efficacy of Naftifine applied once‐a‐day or b.i.d. was assessed in this interindividual, double‐blind, randomized comparison in 175 patients with dermatomycoses. 59 patients were treated with Miconazole b.i.d. as a control group.
There was no difference between once‐a‐day and b.i.d. application of Naftifine concerning the gradual increase in the number of mycologically healed patients during the trial or concerning the overall number of 96% respectively 98% at the end of the treatment.
Irrespective of the frequency of application more than 80% of the patients could be cured mycologically and clinically with Naftifine. In 90% of the cases the success of the treatment was judged to be “good” or “excellent”. Miconazole applied b.i.d. led to comparable results.
The tolerance of both drugs, Naftifine and Miconazole, was rated as “excellent” or “good” in more than 95% of the patients.
In conclusion the present trial proved that the antimycotic efficacy of Naftifine is maintained despite reduction of the frequency of daily application.
