Long-term treatment with CSs and MMF from induction to maintenance phase is associated with relatively favourable long-term outcome in Chinese LN patients. Discontinuation of MMF before 24 months may increase the risk of flares.
The results suggest efficacy of TAC in LN, especially in reducing proteinuria, and its role as a long-term maintenance agent warrants further investigation.
Our data show a relatively low flare rate for LN in the more recent era, attributed to effective induction of immunosuppression and MPA as maintenance treatment.
