In tetrahydrofuran medium, niobium pentachloride forms complex compounds with 1,5-diaryl-substituted 2,4-dithiobiurets (DSDTB) and 1,5-diaryl-substituted 2-thiobiuret (DSTB) having general formula NbCI5L, where L is a molecule of bidentate ligand. The complex compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, Infrared spectral studies, and electrical conductivity measurements. Coordination through sulfur atoms in the case of dlaryl dithiobiurets and coordination through sulfur and oxygen atoms in the case of diaryl thiobiurets have been proposed for these complexes, and their band gaps have been found in the range 1.09-1.47 eV.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
