Letters to the Editor 354that children with special needs be offered a comprehensive health assessment on entering school, and that the health surveillance programme be expanded. Many health authorities have adopted other recommendations from this Review, but the surveillance of children with disabilities appears to remain under-serviced. Children in special schools require comprehensive medical assessment and many are currently not receiving this care.
