Ogromne ilości powstających odpadów stały się jednym z najważniejszych problemów środowiskowych. Zwiększona aktywność w dziedzinie budownictwa sprawia, że dużą część odpadów stałych stanowią odpady budowlane i rozbiórko-we. Konieczność zrównoważonego wykorzystania naturalnych zasobów i negatywne skutki niewłaściwej utylizacji odpadów, sprawiają, że możliwość zagospodarowania odpadów jest przedmiotem rosnącego zainteresowania wielu ośrodków badawczych na świecie. Korzystne i coraz częściej proponowane rozwiązania sugerują konieczność użycia materiałów odpadowych podczas produkcji wyrobów budowlanych przeznaczonych na budowę domów, dróg oraz innych elementów infrastruktury. Praktyka ta umożliwia zmniejszenie objętości odpadów składowa-nych na wysypiskach, jednocześnie ograniczając wykorzystanie naturalnie wydobywanych surowców, a tym samym przyczynia się do zmniejszenia emisji szkodliwych gazów cieplarnianych i wpływu przemysłu budowlanego na środowisko naturalne. Eksperymenty opisane w literaturze potwierdzają możliwość otrzymywania materiałów budowlanych z wykorzystaniem różnego typu odpadów. Liczne publikacje powstałe na ten temat skłaniają jednak do postawienia pytania o możli-wość realizacji takich działań w warunkach rzeczywistych. W ramach niniejszego artykułu opisano wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród firm produkujących materiały budowlane z terenu całej Polski. Ankieta ta przyjęła postać aplikacji internetowej udostępnionej na podstawie licencji opensource. Zawierała ona 10 pytań dotyczących realnego wykorzystywania odpadów w produkcji materiałów budowlanych oraz ponownego wykorzystania materiałów budowlanych i elementów konstrukcyjnych. Na ankietę odpowiedziały 22 firmy, z których połowa potwierdziła fakt wykorzystywania odpadów w produkcji materiałów budowlanych. Wśród najczęściej wymienianych odpadów znalazł się gruz betonowy i odpady powstałe w elektrowniach, co jest zgodne ze stanem przedstawionym w literaturze.
