The development of a programmable, ultra-low noise X-band radar exciter using a Sapphire Loaded Cavity Oscillator (SLCO) is reported. The exciter generates +26 dBm from 9.92 GHz to 10.80 GHz with single-sideband phase noise of -154 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset.
