The BOLD (Boulder Optimal Logic Design) system is a set of software tools that optimally transforms an arbitrary combinational logic description into a standard cell, gate array or complex CMOS gate technology. In this paper we summarize the design philosophy and structure of BOLD and describe the various software tools and algorithms that comprise the BOLD system. The input to BOLD is either a behavioral circuit description or a LIF file. The output is a netlist consisting of gates from a user supplied library or a netlist of CMOS complex gates. We contrast the philosophy of BOLD with other available synthesis programs (most notably MIS and YLE) and compare the output of each system on a small set of examples.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
