With the topic of Smart Grids taking up momentum, challenges to integrate systems from various vendors’ at large scale in a critical infrastructure have arisen. This issue is usually tackled utilizing standards and, therefore, agreements between the various parties. However, the aspect of the interoperability between systems is not only defined by physical connections, but has a multi-faceted dimension which needs to be dealt with at all layers in order for a semantic and cost-efficient integration. Within this contribution, we motivate the need for a procedural way to deal with interoperability in Smart Grids, show the theoretical foundations and the approach taken and present case studies that cover the problem in scope. Based on these case studies, results are critically reflected and conclusions are drawn.
Considerations on checks of the serviceability of crane runways and crane supporting structures.Apart from the adherence to manufacturing and mounting tolerances for cranes, crane runways and rails, the limitation of elastic deformation of crane supporting structures (e. g. building frame) is a prerequisite for trouble-free and low-wear crane operation. These tolerances are determined in standards and guidelines and should not be exceeded essentially even after commissioning. However, it is not easy to determine the limits of elastic deformations, since the following items have to be taken into consideration: 212© Ernst & Sohn · Stahlbau 71 (2002), Heft 3 -Which actions produce deformation affecting crane operation? -Which combinations of actions should be made up for checking serviceability? Recommendations from EC 3 and SIA 161 are presented and discussed, proposals are made which take the group of loading of the crane into consideration. Examples explain the calculation of the proposed limits of deformation and the effects of combined actions for serviceability limit states on the selection of profile sections as well as the weight of the crane supporting structure.
