Significance and Impact of the Study: A Bacillus cereus capable of biotransforming L-proline to Trans-4hydroxy-L-proline (trans-Hyp) was isolated from the air for the first time. Trans-Hyp-producing engineering Escherichia coli was constructed utilizing proline-4-hydroxylase in it, which exhibited a high ability on trans-Hyp production from glucose by one-step process. This study provides a green and environmentally friendly hydroxylase candidate for the efficient industrial production of trans-Hyp.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
