Sampah merupakan sisa pembuangan dari aktivitas manusia maupun proses alam. Sampah yang dihasilkan dari berbagai gedung Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis semakin hari semakin mengakibatkan penumpukan dan bau tidak sedap karena adanya pembusukan sampah. Prototype Sistem Monitoring Tempat Sampah di Gedung Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis Berbasis Mikrokontroler akan dingunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Prototype yang dirancang yaitu bisa mengirim informasi kepenuhan sampah berupa notifikasi ke Android petugas kebersihan di Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis. Setiap pembuang sampah pada tempat sampah tersebut, maka tempat sampah akan terbuka dan tertutup secara otomatis. Prototype yang di buat menggunakan Arduino Uno, Sensor Ultrasonik sebagai pendeteksi kepenuhan sampah. Servo sebagai pengendali buka tutup otomatis tempat sampah. Raspberry pi sebagai server tempat database yang akan terhubung ke cloud yang akan mengirimkan notifikasi ke Android petugas kebersihan. Jarak yang dideteksi sensor ultrasonik pertama adalah kecil sama dengan 30 cm untuk mendeteksi pembuang sampah jika sensor ultrasonik mendeteksi di jarak kecil sama dengan 30 cm, maka servo akan membuka tempat sampah secara otomatis, apabila tempat sampah telah penuh maka sensor ultrasonik dan servo tidak akan bekerja dan tempat sampah tidak akan terbuka. Sedangkan jarak yang dideteksi sensor ultrasonik kedua adalah kecil sama dengan 4 cm yang berfungsi untuk mendeteksi kepenuhan sampah dan mengirimkan notifikasi ke android petugas.
