Conventional ether-based electrolytes exhibited a low polarization voltage in potassium-ion batteries, yet suffered from ion-solvent co-intercalation phenomena in a graphite anode, inferior potassiummetal performance, and limited oxidation stability.Here, we reveal that weakening the cation-solvent interactions could suppress the co-intercalation behaviour, enhance the potassium-metal performance, and improve the oxidation stability. Consequently, the graphite anode exhibits K + intercalation behaviour (K j j graphite cell operates 200 cycles with 86.6 % capacity retention), the potassium metal shows highly stable plating/stripping (K j j Cu cell delivers 550 cycles with average Coulombic efficiency of 98.9 %) and dendritefree (symmetric K j j K cell operates over 1400 hours) properties, and the electrolyte exhibits high oxidation stability up to 4.4 V. The ion-solvent interaction tuning strategy provides a promising method to develop highperformance electrolytes and beyond.

HCC with and without cirrhosis has a poor prognosis with the majority of patients receiving palliative treatments, the efficiency of which is very limited. Considerable efforts are needed to develop primary and secondary prevention.

Backgrounds and aimsThe association of melanosis coli with the development of colorectal polyps remains uncertain.MethodsFrom a total of 18263 patients who had received colonoscopy in our hospital, 219 with melanosis coli cases and 438 controls matched by age and sex (at 1:2 ratio) were included in this study. The association of incidence, number, location, and pathology of colorectal neoplasm with grades and distribution of melanosis coli were analyzed.ResultsMelanosis coli was associated with significantly more colorectal polyps than control, a higher incidence of numerous colorectal polyps (number ≥ 20) (7.3% vs 0.5%; p < 0.001), and higher number of small colorectal polyps (diameter ≤ 5 mm; p < 0.01). Patients with melanosis coli had higher incidences of low-grade adenomas (31.1% vs 23.3%, p < 0.05) and non-adenoma polyps (20.1% vs 12.8%, p < 0.05) than the controls. On multivariate analysis, melanosis coli was independently associated with increased detecting rates of low grade adenoma (OR = 1.54; 95%: 1.06–2.23; p < .05), non-adenoma polyp (OR = 1.72; 95%: 1.11–2.70; p < .05) and numerous polyps (OR = 16.2, 95%: 3.66–71.6; p < .05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of high-grade adenomas or adenocarcinomas in the two population groups, but the numbers of these lesions were insufficient to permit firm conclusions. No significant differences in incidence, number, and pathology of colorectal polyps between individuals with melanosis coli of three different grades of severity were found. Melanosis located predominantly in the right colon had an interestingly lower incidence of colonic polyps in right colon than did melanosis located predominantly in the left colon or total colon (8.9% vs. 26.3%, 24.0%, p < 0.05). Patients with melanosis coli had significantly more nonspecific distal ileal ulcers than did controls (8.0% vs 0%, p < 0.001).ConclusionMelanosis coli is associated with a higher incidence and number of colonic non-adenoma polyps and low-grade adenomas, and higher incidence of distal ileal ulcers. Melanosis coli may not be a harmless pigmentation, but a sign of chronic injury of colonic and intestinal mucosa.

The study shows colorectal cancer, colorectal polyps, colitis, anorectal disease and IBD were the most common etiologies of LGIB in the Chinese adult and elderly population, whereas colorectal polyps, chronic colitis and intussusception were the main causes of LGIB in Chinese children. Whereas diverticulum, the most common cause of LGIB in Western populations, is uncommon in China.

Bibliometric indicators are used to assess research performance. The goal of this study was to explore publication output to construct a picture of orthopedics that may be beneficial to researchers and orthopedic specialists. All orthopedics articles published in 61 journals from 2000 to 2011 were retrieved from the Science Citation Index Expanded database. The numbers of articles, citations, authors, institutions, and journals were analyzed and subjected to quantitative and qualitative comparisons. The number of published orthopedics articles increased between 2000 and 2011. Articles published by authors from the United States always ranked first in number, although the United States' share is decreasing in the world literature. Authors from the United States published the most-cited articles and the most articles in journals with top-10 impact factors; moreover, the United States also had the greatest share of experts and highly ranked institutions. The United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan were always within the world's top 4 in terms of numbers of articles and citations. The shares of Germany, South Korea, and China among total orthopedics articles increased, especially that of China. In 2011, China ranked the fifth in the world, with its world share increasing from 0.64% in 2000 to 5.05% in 2011. However, China lags behind in average citations per article, top research institutions, and most prolific authors. According to the total citations per article, the University of Pittsburgh, Harvard University, and the Hospital for Special Surgery were the most prolific institutions.
