Filipinos are creative and expressive for the love of literature is natural. The purpose of this study is to present, analyze and recognize the importance of the short stories of Patrocinio V. Villafuerte who won the award from Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 1984 -Ang Huling Itineraryo sa Pulu-pulong Utak ni Propesor Balisungsong, in 1991-Si Ato sa Sangmagdamagang Pagtakas sa Kawalang-Malay and another year in 2002 was Huling Hiling, Hinaing at Halinghing ni Hermano Huseng that all of Villafuerte's writings received praise.The study will ensure literary elements such as character, setting, plot, theme and emotion; presented social relations; and realism perspective on written works. This research is a descriptive study conducted to discover whether the winning stories possess the characteristics consistent with the theory of Scott (1974) andSalazar (1995). This is qualitative research using content analysis, examining the contents of the work of an award-winning writer in Filipino and Literature. It is learned from the study that the analysis of the works reflects the realistic discussion of human life with a complete change in a society that each story can be considered meaningful especially what the author conveys to anyone who reads it. This critique is important to cultivate and further develop Filipino literary works that will be especially helpful in learning and teaching in Filipino.
The study aimed to utilize and assess the efficacy of Integratibong Gawaing Pagkatuto (IGP) in teaching Filipino sa Piling Larang (Akademik) in writing academic texts; Bionote, Position Paper, and Travel Essay. The respondents of this study were the 20 grade 12 Senior High School students taking General Academic Strand. The study was conducted at Maghaway National High School, Maghaway, Talisay City, Cebu in the school year 2022-2023. Three instruments were utilized in this study; lesson plan, scoring rubrics, and the IGP which was personally crafted by the researchers and validated by the experts. A quasi-experimental design was conducted to assess the efficacy of IGP between the controlled and experimental groups. It has been found in the study that there is a big interval in the scores from the two groups. It is also proven that there is a significant difference in mean scores between the controlled and experimental groups. Based on the findings the researchers stress the importance of IGP in teaching academic text in helping the students to enhance their writing skills through multi-media integration and localized learning materials.
Localization in selected Filipino lessons will address one of the missions of basic culture-based education. Just as other countries they promote their language, Filipinos promote their own language in Sugbuanon pinulongan to use as a strategic assembly for an individual ability to use it. The study uses descriptive research and the use of selected popular Visayan songs to achieve the aforementioned using the institutional linguistics of De Matos (1964) which discusses the relationship of language and its user where the style voice, audience, register and Brown's (2016) purpose or VARP that facilitates language teaching and learning from audible and readable information. This study ensures that linguistic content will be answered using 1) Voice-words, phrases, parables: 2) Audience -vocabulary, style of speech; 3) Register-formal and informal: and 4) Purpose -genre and message of songs in society. The study found that the use of local and contextualized lessons is rich in linguistic content in songs translated in the local language and is now trendy music especially in the interest of students because the lyrics of the songs are their vernacular facilitates learning and human relations.
The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the (1) cultural elements, (2) historical context, and (3) usage of language of Max Surban's Sebwano Novelty Songs: Pasayawa ko Day, Albularyong Buta, Mr. Kodaker (Ang Maniniyot), at Sabungero that will serve as a reference for teachers in applying teaching methods to promote the cultures embedded in the song for Grade 7 learners. The data were describe using the descriptive or narrative method. The selected novelty songs were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive portrayal by Creswell (2009). From the gathered data, it was discovered that the novelty songs feature expressions of humor followed by sarcasm, melody, and comparison were creative language is use and labeling were also evident. It was also found that Max Surban's Novelty Songs cover various topics such as courtship, beliefs in traditional healers, fishing, and cockfighting.Finally, the study revealed that Max Surban's novelty songs reflect the culture of the Visayan region such as courtship, beliefs in traditional healers, fishing, cockfighting culture, and hospitality. These findings indicate the integration of mimetic and sociolinguistic concepts in the analyzed songs. The study recommends further research on local literature to strengthen localized and contextualized teaching.
