Rural women's access to abortion services are impacted by the availability, accessibility and affordability of services and prevailing negative social attitudes. This exploratory study provides a snapshot of women's experiences of the process of seeking an abortion in rural NSW, where they are not available locally and women have to travel out of the area to access services. Findings indicate rural women experience multiple barriers in relation to their ability to access abortion services and follow-up care, which may impact on overall health outcomes.
On the invitation of the Principal, health workers conducted a four session programme on "Health Education" in a Country Technical College. This article summarizes the outline of the programme and the development of it through each session, using particularly the technique of small group discussion. As well, based on the experience of this programme, a number of points which may improve future programmes are highlighted.A country Technical College in Australia recently organized a Health Education Programme for its students aged between seventeen and twenty years. The impact of the media on ones attitudes to drugs and techniques used 4. Some alternatives to drugs as a means of coping with stress situations. No objective study was done to measure the results of this programme but subjective results suggest that some students increased their awareness of how and why they used drugs and therefore increased their potential for change. However, many students felt that the critical period for making decisions concerning drugs occurs in Primary School and by the time they reach the Technical College, students had confirmed attitudes towards drugs and related use of drugs and way of life.to create that impact.
