O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a associação da insatisfação com a massa corporal atual, as classificações do IMC e os objetivos com a prática de atividade física em mulheres frequentadoras de academias de ginástica. A amostra foi composta por 124 mulheres matriculadas em academias de ginástica do município de Juiz de Fora, MG. Foram coletadas informações sobre idade, massa corporal atual, estatura corporal, massa corporal ideal para si mesmo e objetivos com a prática de atividade física. A associação entre: a (in)satisfação com a massa corporal, o IMC e com os objetivos com a prática de atividade física foram verificadas por meio do Teste Qui-Quadrado. A amostra investigada apresentou um elevado nível de insatisfação com a massa corporal atual, desejando apresentar um corpo mais magro. A estética e a saúde foram os principais objetivos indicados para prática de atividades físicas em academias de ginástica pelas mulheres insatisfeitas com a massa corporal atual. Observou-se a associação entre a (in)satisfação com a massa corporal atual e as classificações do IMC das mulheres investigadas.
