Resumo: Este trabalho trata de como se relacionam dois aspectos da mente humana -intencionalidade e triangulação -sob as óticas de três autores: Davidson, Dennett e Tomasello. A intencionalidade é tomada como a característica de ao menos alguns estados mentais de estarem dirigidos a algo. Triangulação é o processo básico de interação de dois seres entre si e com o mundo, base da linguagem. Entre a intencionalidade e a triangulação se situam a linguagem articulada e a forma de pensar especificamente humana. Porém, cada um desses autores compreende diferentemente o papel dessas duas características cognitivas na formação da linguagem e seu surgimento na história evolutiva. O resultado é que o conjunto dos seres dotados de intencionalidade é diferente para cada um deles. Assim, o artigo tratará de até onde a intencionalidade desce pela árvore evolutiva conforme cada um dos autores. Palavras-chave:Intencionalidade. Triangulação. Davidson. Dennett. Tomasello. Jean-Claude Passeron observa que os critérios do normativismo de Popper não podem ser aplicados à s ciências sociais, mas apenas à s ciências naturais. Nesse sentido, propõe um alargamento da concepção de ciência e de racionalidade para que as ciências sociais sejam incluídas. Porém, a partir de uma crítica mais ampla a Popper, este trabalho objetiva argumentar que ciências da natureza e humanas compartilham de dificuldades e soluções epistemológicas, não estando assim tão distantes. Além disso, pretende-se olhar para outra possibilidade de abordagem da questão, a partir da aceitação de diferentes formas de descrição de uma mesma realidade. Afinal, talvez a meta de incluir as ciências humanas no rol das ciências tenha uma abordagem mais simples do que tem parecido a Passeron.
