Honesty is a the important character in the student. The creation of this character takes quite a long time and cannot be conducted in an instant. Honest character can be developed using the behavioristik theory by conditioning with stimulus-response technique-reinforcement. The role of teacher, counselors, other school personnel, parents and the community are very important in the development of the student’s characters through conditioning.
This study aims to: (1) describe the locus of control, self-esteem and student academic procrastination (2) express the contribution of locus of control and self-esteem to student academic procrastination. This research is conducted by the expost-facto method with questionnaire instrument which has been measured its validity and reliability. The population in this study were BKI FTK IAIN IB Padang students entering 2014, 2013 and 2012 totaling 355 people, the samples used were Stratified Proportional Random Sampling technique so that the sample of 107 students was obtained. Sample amounted to 107 students. The result of the research shows that (1) locus of control is classified moderately, student self-esteem is on average high and student academic procrastination rate is high. (2) there is a significant contribution between locus of control and selfesteem on student academic procrastination jointly equal to 18.8%.

PENDAHULUANSalah satu tujuan perkembangan manusia adalah memilih hidup yang memuaskan dan produktif. Pemilihan karier merupakan salah satu cara untuk mendapatkan kehidupan tersebut. Secara historis pemilihan karier berasal dari bimbingan vokasional yaitu suatu proses dalam membantu klien untuk memilih, mempersiapkan dan memperoleh keberhasilan dalam suatu pekerjaan tertentu. Proses ini dipusatkan dalam konseling dengan mempertimbangkan data klien dan kemungkinan-ke-mungkinan pekerjaan yang ada, agar klien menemukan tujuan karier. Karier sekurang-kurangnya memiliki tiga pilar, yaitu studi atau pendidikan, pekerjaan, dan kehidupan berkeluarga. Ketiga pilar tersebut menjadi bingkai karier seseorang karena alasan-alasan sebagai berikut.Pertama, manusia menghabiskan sepertiga sampai setengah dari usianya dalam pekerjaan atau aktivitas yang berhubungan dengan pekerjaan. Pekerjaan tidak hanya menentukan pendapatan dan standar hidup, melainkan juga status sosial dan perkembangan kehidupan pribadi baik sebagai pekerja atau sebagai anggota keluarga (suami atau istri yang berkewajiban menjamin kehidupan keluarga), dalam lingkup kehidupan tertentu dan dalam peristiwa kehidupan tertentu.
Abstract:This study aimed to describe the locus of control and academic procrastination, and investigate whether there is significance contributions of locus of control on student academic procrastination. This research was conducted by the Ex post-facto method was used in this study, where the data taken from two set of questionnaires. Proportional Stratified Random Sampling was used. There were 107 students involved this study. The results showed that the locus of control is in average level, meanwhile, and the students' academic achievement was high. The study also showed that there is a significant contribution between the locus of control on students' academic procrastination. The article concludes that the importance that locus control for procrastination research, and with suggestions for educators who work with students who are adversely affected by procrastination.
