The idea of being a pretty boy was hailed as a regional privileged male ideal in Asia after the booming of Korean wave in late 1990s that saw Korean drama featuring men that openly embrace both masculine and feminine traits. They were often described as tall, possessing a slim feminine face, fashionable and romantic. While the pretty boy image was seen as a form of 'new masculinity' that acknowledged women equally, however, critical qualitative content analysis of popular Korean dramas in Malaysia, Moon Embracing the Sun (2012) and The Heirs (2013) revealed that these Korean men were feminised through the use of constant fragmented and close-up shots, and also through the use of bright and colourful costume. Although they did not hide their emotions, however, this performance only took place in the private sphere. As much as the metrosexual tried hard to disassociate themselves with the notion of femininity and queerness, the idea of being a pretty boy showed similar disavowal-masculinity is maintained through high-ranked social position despite there is an acceptance of a more feminised appear ance.
This study explored the representation of women in comparison to male characters using a content analysis of 54 episodes of two Pakistani television network dramas. The objective was to observe the representation of major characters, social roles and the issues of violation of women's rights. Under feminist theoretical framework, the findings revealed that women were represented in submissive social roles, exploited under the ideology of patriarchy. Ironically, a political regime, which projects itself as an emancipator and a conscientious feminist, was used to highlight the issues of violation of women's rights. Women empowerment and women's rights' programmes and policies of the ruling elites were used to advance the interests of government and political leaders to sustain control. The study concludes that as an influencer of behaviours and attitudes, patriarchal ideology plays a significant role in the representation of women as weak and submissive in television dramas in Pakistan.

A total of 105 news were selected out of 185 and 89,465 words were analyzed to observe how they framed the Novel Coronavirus crisis. Six individual frames were found and the results revealed four similarities and two differences among the frames. The similarities and differences were discussed based on different approaches to framing including proximity and political agendas.
