Depresión y melancolía son dos conceptos diferentes, existen pocos esclarecimientos sobre dónde empieza o termina su definición en el psicoanálisis, además en su concepción psicógena y/o somática, y las similitudes que comparten. Este artículo propone abordar estos dos conceptos desde la teoría, plantear una diferencia entre ambos, desde el cambio conceptual hasta las diferencias en los movimientos psíquicos, para posteriormente abordar la trilogía de la depresión de Lars von Trier: Melancolía, Anticristo y Ninfomaníaca, en la que los aspectos mencionados se ilustran desde la vivencia de la mujer, lo cual posibilita vislumbrar estos estados, sus exigencias y consecuencias para el devenir del ser humano.
En la psicología ha emergido hace algunos años una reflexión crítica sobre la disciplina, debido a que en los enfoques han surgido interrogantes sobre la manera en que la psicología está avanzando. Esto ha llevado a cuestionamientos acerca de sus teorías y métodos, por parte de algunos psicólogos que se encuentran en la periferia de la psicología, que desde una posición radical que han “sacado a la luz las asunciones ideológicas y los juegos de poder de la disciplina” (Parker, 2003, pág. 8). En el exterior de la disciplina se encuentran científicos sociales y profesionales de otras áreas, haciendo sus aportes y tratando de cobijar también una postura reflexiva frente a las disciplinas, intentado en la medida de lo posible que la academia sea consciente de los poderes y las ideologías que producen sesgos.
