Enseñas consolidadas versus emergentes Comparative Analysis of Communication Strategies in Franchising. Consolidated firms vs. incipient franchise networks
Abstract:The aim of this piece of research is to determine the interrelationships between the corporate image used by the main restaurant franchises operating in Spain and the colours used by them. Following Colour Theory and the studies on colour psychology that will be dealt with during the course of this paper, we have started with the principal hypothesis that red will be the predominant colour, together with yellow, due to the fact that these colours, because of their inherent connotations, are those best able to convey the activity and philosophy of fast food companies. The field of Visual Corporate Identity is an extremely wide one in which various elements are at work, such as brand, logo, symbol, typography, colour, different compositions or versions of the brand and the application of the brand to different support media. This means that when it comes to the comparative analysis, this piece of research will focus on the chromatic aspect of each sample analysed as it operates in the fast food sect...
The aim of this research is to determine the degree of quality, stated in terms of interactivity and usability, of websites from Spanish franchises in the field of Optics and Optometry. For this purpose, all the existing bibliography was checked and the concept of interactivity and usability in websites was also defined. Besides, a series of indicators (Nielsen) were chosen which enabled us to set up parameters to measure the level of interactivity. The objective public for the franchise company was outlined and hence the analysis of websites of companies from the Optical and Optometry sector was carried out. The techniques of analysis used were those which limit observation to a single moment in time with the aim of describing the present situation. The objective was to determine whether the websites are being designed, and therefore used, as corporate catalogues or else, they favour the participation of possible users (customers, current franchisers and potential franchise-holders) thus establishing a feedback process by means of which the addressees play an active role. As a final conclusion, the hypothesis of the research is corroborated and it can be stated that websites of franchises from the Optical and Optometry sector are not designed offering a high degree in interactivity and accesibility in communication through the Internet with their different objective publics. The possible advantages of the Internet are wasted by a low level of interaction. Our research team is in favour of a higher interactivity level which corresponds to that in which a marketing and communication strategy of the franchise may offer added value to the brand and could let the contributions of customers, franchisers and potential franchise holders be taken into account.
The nautical sports entities of the 21st century are facing new challenges, such as the relationship of the nautical clubs with the current society and their survival, among others, which they must face with a remarkable communication. The methodology, to know the management of communication processes carried out in nautical sports entities throughout Spain, is based on a quantitative technique such as content analysis. This analysis helps to understand everything related to nautical sports entities as systems of organization. The field technique is also used, and the application of the Participant Observation, to design a questionnaire that is sent to this type of entities in order to compare variables used in communication processes and obtain results that lead us to diagnose the communication departments. Finally, the results confirm that yacht clubs have a long way to go, to involve a leisure society to follow in this 21st century. In this sense, the sector of nautical sports clubs should reflect on the incorporation of communication departments to establish links with society.
