El Piptocoma discolor es una especie nativa de bosques secundarios y de crecimiento rápido ideal para un bosque sustentable por su predominancia en la Amazonía del Ecuador y de América Latina. Actualmente, esta madera y su desperdicio no se consideran como una alternativa para producir energía eléctrica. La información sobre su potencial de biomasa y valor energético es escasa. El objetivo fue obtener biomasa fresca y conocer la cinética del secado. Se trabajó en los cuatro cantones de la provincia de Pastaza con 20 parcelas de 400 m2 y 600 m2 que tenían un promedio de 15 a 20 árboles, cuyos diámetros de altura del pecho oscilaban entre 10 y 33 cm, y se establecieron los siguientes valores: a) Número de árboles por hectárea promedio (1274 NA2/ha); b) Biomasa en 100 987 hectáreas con un promedio de 41 097 686.87 toneladas, lo que significa que contribuye con 49.72 % de agua y 50.28 % de materia sólida; c) Un modelo cinético de R2 = 0.9855, la estimación de a = 1.1318, k = 0.0637765, n = 0.560617 y b = -0.193993, basado en un error estándar de 0.0301682 y autocorrección residual de 0.182239 de la cinética de secado, y d) Energía total significa más de 13.5 GW de energía térmica utilizando 100 % de biomasa.
La modelación y simulación computacional representan una herramienta competitiva y funcional que apoya eficazmente al estudio del comportamiento termoquímico en la optimización de la combustión. Garantiza resultados confiables a través de la modelación y diseño, y permitió la validación de las propiedades termodinámicas en exceso aplicados para la combustión de la biomasa del Piptocoma discolor (pigüe) de la región amazónica del Ecuador y América Latina. Los parámetros del modelo fueron físicos, químicos y térmicos a través de los fluidos dinámicos computacionales en optimización de la combustión. Se obtuvo el modelo matemático de la combustión bajo el método de transporte de la especie. En la simulación se consideró las variables del flujo de aire primario, contenido de humedad. Las variables de los parámetros de la combustión fueron N2, O2, CO, H, presión, temperatura, humedad, energía total y tiempo de quemado de las partículas de biomasa. La configuración geométrica fue desarrollada según los principios fundamentales de CFD dentro de Ansys Fluent para obtener el comportamiento de la velocidad, turbulencia, presión, etc. de la composición del combustible óptimo 91.75 % de una combustión completa y frente a otras especies que arrojan el 86 % de las reacciones de la combustión de las especies.
Se utilizaron tres métodos para conocer el valor real del poder calórico, considerando los márgenes de errores que se cometen al momento de calcularlo, ya sea mediante el método de análisis bromatológico, o proximal. Para el análisis bromatológico, y como patrón la bomba calorimétrica, con resultados del 19,66% de error, con un margen de confiabilidad del 80,34%. Por ello fue importante aplicar los tres métodos y corregir los errores mediante modelos matemáticos. Se tomó en cuenta el análisis de la fibra para reajustar la fórmula calorimétrica y la constante para lograr valores confiables del 98,7% y con un margen de error del 1,3%. Según la teoría de los errores reales, en relación a los datos obtenidos del calorímetro fue de 19,07 (MJ/kg) como potencial energético del Pigüe, el otro método fue el análisis proximal, obteniendo un margen de error superior de 5,19% y con una confiabilidad del 94,81%. Mediante modelación matemática planteado para carbonos fijos y volátiles, donde fue modificada la constante y ajustada a través de la fórmula de integrales, se obtuvieron resultados confiables del 99,9% para el poder calorífico en biomasas maderables con fines energéticos para el Pigüe (Pollalesta discolor) en la región Amazónica del Ecuador.
