Summary. This research aims to design a model for predicting the behavior of sports practice for the Millennial generation. After psychometric contrast, the study is based on the scale of attitude towards physical activity and sport. In addition, the research deepens in the measurement of the attitude towards physical activity and sport, and explores the existence of differences regarding gender and level of practice. A non-random sample of 1141 Millennial generation individuals selected with gender and age quotas was surveyed. The study goes forward with respect to the existing literature, suggesting a bi-dimensionality of the used scale. It also provides a predictive model for Millennial generation, based on the application of the logistic regression technique, with a high success rate to classify sport practicing and non-practicing individual. This glance at Millennials lays its value in the need of predicting future behaviors rather than comparing with other generations. In this sense, the development of attitudes that promote healthy habits, which are also beneficial both to individuals and the community as a whole is essential. Additionally, results show some novelty concerning particularities of Millennials: their attitude towards physical exercise and sports practice is better among women than men.
The article analyzes the public opinion on the image of sportswomen in relation to that of sportsmen in the Historical Territory of Gipuzkoa (Basque Country, Spain). In recent years, there has been a significant advance in the parity of sports practice, with positive results in terms of sports performance of female athletes. However, the media often continue to offer a stereotypical image of female athletes later reproduced in public opinion. The article shows the results of a survey carried out among the Gipuzkoan population on the visibility / invisibility of sportswomen and the stereotypes associated with their image. The results indicate that still, and despite different efforts, female athletes are not very visible to the population. Both the spontaneous and assisted notoriety of female athletes is much lower than that of male athletes. Low visibility adds to another problem, the persistence of stereotypes. The tendency to influence issues related to physical appearance is confirmed, as well as the attribution of different values according to the athlete's sex. Despite everything, a favorable predisposition towards the consumption of sports by women or practiced by women has been identified. In short, there are some steps towards parity, but the challenge remains.
Users are, by no means, an insignificant source of innovative and attractive products. 5% of our non-representative sample of consumers from Gipuzkoa innovates, which is quite similar to findings in other relevant studies on the subject. This would suggest that innovation management and policies that are exclusively manufacturer-oriented and fail to take the user into account will always be unsatisfactory and incomplete. However, it is equally true that not all consumers innovate. The challenge, therefore, is for companies who wish to develop co-creation strategies with consumers to be able to identify those consumers who do. To this end, the authors present a reliable and valid scale called ''Consumers at the Cutting-Edge''. We offer a 31-item scale divided in three dimensions (''User leadership'', ''Curiosity/creativity'', and ''Availability of time and skills for product development'') designed specifically for the identification of lead users so that they can contribute to the innovation process.
