En el artículo se describe el diseño e implementación del sistema de control de la Planta Didáctica de Intercambio Térmico - PIT000, ubicada en el Centro de Electricidad y Automatización Industrial, CEAI - SENA, como un aporte investigativo a las necesidades de las instituciones de educación y de las empresas, ingenios azucareros, petroquímicas y papeleras, entre otras. El sistema de control se basa en una estrategia cascada temperatura-flujo, implementada mediante el uso de tecnología de instrumentación y control industrial, que incluyó transmisores inteligentes de flujo y temperatura,controladores lógicos programables y válvulas de control con posicionador inteligente. La metodología de diseño del sistema de control incluyó la elaboración de diagramas (P&ID) y bloques de la estrategia, la definición de condiciones de operación del proceso, el modelado de los lazos de control por medio de funciones de transferencia, el diseño de los controladores de flujo y temperatura, la determinación de los parámetros de sintonía haciendo uso del Matlab y la implementación final del sistema de control. Los resultados de la investigación, que están asociados a la implementación del sistema de control, son considerados satisfactorios, debido a que se validan con la simulación y prueba de la estrategia de control ante condiciones de operación, así como la estrategia de control cumplió con el propósito de mejorar el comportamiento de la temperatura de salida del producto en el proceso.
Esta revisión sobre lazos de temperatura en intercambiadores de calor tipo coraza-tubo, parte de un estudio realizado a la industria de la región del Valle del Cauca donde se identifican en la ingeniería de control de los intercambiadores de calor las siguientes deficiencias: desconocimiento del modelo, inexperiencia en la selección de las estrategias de control, pobre sintonía de los algoritmos de control y desconocimiento de criterios de evaluación de desempeño. La literatura consultada muestra una gran cantidad de métodos de identificaciones de modelos y estrategias de controles y sintonías aplicados a intercambiadores, sin embargo, en su mayoría son implementados a nivel de simulación, despreciando las no linealidades e interacciones del intercambiador en el proceso industrial. La revisión presenta diferentes métodos y conceptos usados para la obtención de modelos, estrategias de control, sintonía y evaluación de lazos de control que se encuentran en la literatura desde el 2010.
