La madre refiere entre sus antecedentes que presentó una masa unilateral, pedunculada, en cuadrante superior nasal de orbita derecha, desde su nacimiento.Mostró una agudeza visual de visión lejana, sin corrección en ojo derecho: 20/40 y en ojo izquierdo: 20/20. Examen físico: se evalúan ducciones y versiones normales, sin restricción de movimientos oculares. Se contempla una masa sólida de 10 × 4 cm de diámetro, de consistencia blanda, con aspecto del mismo color de la piel, localizada en la región frontonasal y unida al cuadrante nasal superior de la órbita derecha ( fig. 1). No se denotan cambios de coloración a la palpación, dolor, ni tampoco crepitación. Se aprecia hipertelorismo provocado por la localización de la masa, así como también edema del párpado inferior del ojo derecho ( fig. 2). Es importante mencionar que los encefaloceles causan alteración facial por su posición, originando hipertelorismo y telecanto. De esta manera, el objetivo quirúrgico en estos pacientes consiste en seccionar el encefalocele, reparar el defecto dural y corregir el hipertelorismo asociado. * Autor para correspondencia.Correos electrónicos: rene
