Introducción: las cardiopatías congénitas cada vez son detectadas a edades más tempranas; la mayoría son corregidas quirúrgicamente mediante sutura directa o la colocación de un parche en las márgenes del defecto, al tratarse de cirugías de alto riesgo es necesario el uso de hemoderivados. Caso clínico: paciente de sexo femenino de 9 meses de edad con dificultad para ganancia pondo estatural, fatiga precoz durante la alimentación, soplo sistólico grado III, mediante ecocardiograma es diagnosticada de una comunicación interauricular tipo ostium secundum y comunicación interventricular con repercusión hemodinámica moderada; inicialmente tratada con furosemida y espironolactona sin respuesta favorable, decidiéndose resolución quirúrgica; sus progenitores dadas sus creencias religiosas no aceptaron la posibilidad de transfusiones sanguíneas, por lo que se resuelve realizar cirugía utilizando estrategias para reducir la probabilidad de uso de hemoderivados durante y después de la misma. Conclusión: a pesar de que la cirugía resultó ser exitosa, se plantea el debate sobre la conducta a seguir en situaciones relacionadas con posiciones religiosas y la posibilidad de aplicar tratamientos seguros para los pacientes.
La salud mental infanto-juvenil es una prioridad de salud pública, por ello, es importante conocer los diferentes problemas lo más temprano posible para evitar complicaciones. Objetivo. Identificar los problemas de conducta en pacientes de 2 a 15 años hospitalizados en el departamento de pediatría del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca Ecuador 2021. Métodos. se realizó un estudio de tipo mixto, bajo análisis observacional y descriptivo de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo constituida por 201 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Para la recolección de la información se utilizó un formulario sobre características demográficas de los pacientes y el Inventario de Eyberg aplicado a padres o tutores, previo la firma del consentimiento informado. Los datos fueron tabulados en el programa SPSS versión 25, para analizar la información se utilizó la estadística descriptiva, en base a frecuencias y porcentajes presentándose los resultados en tablas. Resultados. El 11,9 % tienen alteración de conducta, el 39,8% están en riesgo y el 48,3% son normales. De los que tienen alteración de conducta el 66,6% son adolescentes de 10 a 15 años, no hay diferencia en relación al sexo; la mayoría (75%) son de área urbana; el 50% cursa básica superior, cerca del 30% son hijos de padres desocupados y según la categoría valorada el 75% presenta ansiedad, el 20,84% agresividad y el 4,8% déficit de atención. Conclusiones. Más de la mitad tienen problemas de conducta. La ansiedad se presenta en tres de cuatro pacientes.
El objetivo de esta investigación consideró determinar la frecuencia de macrosomía neonatal en mujeres embarazadas con diagnóstico de Diabetes Gestacional en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el periodo 2009-2014. El tipo de estudio fue cuantitativo, descriptivo y retrospectivo realizado en base a revisión de 106 historias clínicas, se procesó la información con Microsoft Excel 2010, se obtuvieron frecuencias y porcentajes y se elaboraron tablas simples y gráficos. Los resultados evidenciaron que la edad materna predominante fue mayor de 30 años (39%), en edad gestacional el 58% se encontró entre las 42 o más semanas, el 75% de los productos presentaron tendencia a la macrosomía con valores iguales o mayores a 3999 gramos al nacer, en el sexo neonatal entre hombres y mujeres se encontró un porcentaje de 53% y 47% respectivamente, hubieron 90 partos vaginales (85%) y 16 cesáreas (15%) según el peso materno el 30% se encontró en el grupo de 81 a 90 Kg y el 13% en más de 91 Kg Conclusión: Las tres cuartas partes de embarazadas con Diabetes Gestacional del grupo de estudio tuvieron productos con macrosomía fetal
La Leishmaniasis es una enfermedad parasitaria catalogada como emergente y sin control debido al cambio en el perfil epidemiológico por el surgimiento de nuevos focos y urbanización del ciclo de transmisión. Se describe el caso de un adolescente de la Comunidad Dos Ríos, del Cantón Taisha, quien presentó varias lesiones ulceradas, confirmándose diagnóstico de Leishmaniasis Cutánea mediante estudio histológico, iniciándose tratamiento con sales de antimonio pentavalentes, logrando una resolución progresiva y paulatina de las lesiones. Destacándose la importancia del diagnóstico temprano, tratamiento supervisado, y seguimiento para prevenir complicaciones.
